We just got back from Laine's 2 month dr. appt. The morning didn't start off so great. I got up a little late from a late night and Laine wanted me to hold her the whole morning. Her appt was at 8:40 and we ended up leaving at 8:20. She screamed all morning as soon as I put her down (of course), so I was really only able to wash my face and brush my teeth...I looked awesome! Then, my Basset Hound decided she didn't want to go into the laundry room, so I had to yell at her to get from underneath the table and pick up her 41 pound body and carry her into the laundry room. Finally we were able to leave.
When we got there they had me take all her clothes off and weigh her. Surprisingly, she weighs 9 whole pounds, which means she's gained 3 pounds since birth!! That puts her in the 50% for weight (if you adjust for prematurity) and she's 21 3/4 in. long..75% (again adjusting for prematurity). She is still not smiling really at me, but the dr. thinks that will come in the next couple of weeks. I told her that she had this gagging thing she does and then she screams somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour after a couple of feedings a day. We came to the conclusion that she needs to be fed less more often in a day...She doesn't have reflux, but she might be overfeeding..so much for 5 hour stretches at night anymore.
Then came the shots. She of course took the rotovirus orally and did fine, but the three shots she didn't like at all. Right after she gave them she let out a scream, but after I picked her up she calmed down. It's pitiful knowing what is coming and she has no idea! At least she's protected from a few common diseases now! Overall, she's great and growing at a fast and steady pace..We go back at 4 months and talk about introducing food!!

Okay, I swear I NEVER usually give my two cents worth, because afterall, I don't like advice or anything unless I ask for it. Even then, I don't really enjoy it. Because you know your child best!! But, I really thought this would be helpful information for you... Caleb, my first son, had severe reflux. Eli, the newborn, also has a mild case of reflux. After having 2 babies with reflux, it really sounds to me that so does little Laine. Those are the things that both my kids did/do (add in the projectile vomit and you're up to speed with my life). Anyways, feeding more often and less at a time really is helpful for reflux babies so hopefully that will solve the problem for y'all. But, I would just tell you that if her crying fits continue and she still does the weird gagging stuff, then you might want to talk to your doctor again. (I only tell you this because if reflux gets out of control its TERRIBLE and takes forever to get under control). Anyways, take it for what it's worth-- just thought it might help your sanity and sleep. Oh, and the specialist even said (with Caleb who actually was diagnosed with reflux disease) you didn't have to wake them at night-- maybe that way you can still get your precious 5 hour stretches of sleep. But do what's best for you and your baby girl!!!!!! :) Sounds like she's doing great other than the eating/crying thing. What a cutie!
