Today, Carlie and I took the girls for a music preview class at Gymboree. We'd already taken the girls to one of the play classes a few months ago, so we thought we would try out the music class today. They really liked it, so we signed them up to go each week on Thursdays. They started the class by beating on a drum and introdcuing everyone who was there. Then, Miss April got out the maracas and showed the kids how to keep a beat with them by beating them on the ground. Laine just shook hers in the air and Avery attempted to keep the beat. It was cute! Then, she dumped out a big tub of instruments and let the kids have "free time" for a couple of songs. Laine liked that part, but mostly she was interested in the balls to the side. After that, they played with some scarves and sang a Peek-A-Boo song, which was also cute. Laine a huge smile on her face the entire class. Then, they got to catch bubbles and play with these little bell things. At the end she had each child try and use a microphone by saying a combination of sounds. Laine didn't do either of the sound combinations, but she did smile and look at me when I held the microphone to her face.
We had a lot of fun and the cool part about Gymboree is that included in your membership you get to come on Sundays to an open gym type thing, so Jackson and my mom will be able to come see her play then. They also have an art class that starts at 16 months, so we might try that next month! Overall, they had a blast and we can't wait to go back next week!
