San Antonio/Sea World

The drive down to San Antonio!

Dinner and the Marketplace

Carlie and I decided to take a little trip with the girls to San Antonio this passed week. It was sort of a last minute decision, but overall it was a fun trip. We stayed at the Hilton resort right by Sea World and for the most part it was very nice. When we checked in we wanted to make sure we were actually next to each other like we requested and that at least one of the rooms had a balcony. The lady explained that because we got the sale package we didn't qualify for a room with a balcony..Okay, fine..we still wanted adjacent rooms though. The lady assured us that we had rooms right by each other, but when we got up to our rooms they were not right by each other. Our husbands talked us out of arguing with the front desk and that we wouldn't be spending much time in our rooms anyway. For the record, next time we'll make sure the rooms are connected as well as having a balcony..Well worth the extra money.

Once we were settled in, we headed down to the pool with the girls. They had 3 pools: one was a beach entry for the toddlers, one was an adult pool and then a lap pool. We stayed in the toddler pool and were the only ones there for the hour that we spent down there. It was very nice. We talked about what we were going to do for dinner and decided to go down to the marketplace and try out a restaurant that we were told about. The market was very cute and had stores that sold only Mexican style stuff. The restaurant was pretty good and had a cute mariachi band there and that kept the girls busy. Laine loved the music. After dinner, we walked around the market and Laine and Avery loved chasing the pigeons. Laine got pretty close to catching one a couple of times. That night we went back to the hotel and the girls ran around while the guys drank beer at the bar..Classy!

The next morning we all got up and ate breakfast and changed to get ready for Sea World. We made two trips to Sea World that day because we knew the girls would need a nap in between. The first round we went and saw the penguins and it was kind of dark in there, so I'm not sure that Laine knew exactly what to look at. You get on this belt that takes you passed the penguins and Laine was much more interested in walking on the belt than looking at penguins. Then we walked to the playground and the girls ran around while the guys made a "plan". Of course Carlie and I hated their plan and changed it. We walked to the other side of the park and went to Dolphin Cove. By the time we got there, Avery had fallen asleep. We decided to go back to the hotel and take naps and recharge.

Our second trip was much more successful. We saw the Shamu "Believe" show and watched the Sea Lion show. We also went back to the dolphins so Avery could see them. We went to the shark tank and Laine LOVED the sharks and fish. She kept running around saying, "ish". So cute. Before all of that though, we went to Lost Lagoon, the waterpark out there. The boys went and rode some rides while Carlie and I stayed in the toddler pool and the girls of course loved playing in the water. By the time the second show as over, the girls pretty much decided for us that our day at Sea World needed to end. We headed back to the hotel and waited an hour and a half for our pizza...Yes, it took them that long and they said it would take 40 minutes. We were STARVING and Laine didn't eat dinner until almost 9:00..Oops. I took her up to the room and she immediately passed out. That next morning we all went down to breakfast again and then packed up and headed out. On the way back Jackson surprisingly agreed to let me shop at the Round Rock outlets (I wanted to stop in San Marcos, but he wouldn't). I got Laine some "school" clothes and a pair of fall tennis shoes at the Stride Rite outlet. The shoes were a steal..$14.99 and they were originally $40.00! We made it home and our dogs had really missed us! My brother stayed at the house while we were gone, but they still needed their mom and dady! It was a great trip, but we probably won't take trips that create memories like that anymore until Laine is over 3.
